Meet Win
Meet Win Way.  We met him while visiting a nearby Sunday church.  He was giving the message that day we visited.  I was prepared to share a message with the congregation as I had in the past, and after the service they gave me opportunity.  I shared and many of the members stayed to listened.  After the service we gave Win a ride home and later that day I returned to his home to give him a copy of the book “The Great Controversy.”  God opened the way and we began sharing the Three Angel’s Message with Him once a week.  Many months later we are still studying and others have joined us.    Win has gone with us visiting people and has even driven the truck for us.  He has visited our church and has taken us to share the final gospel message of Jesus to another Sunday congregation.  Please pray for Win and his family as they make very important decisions and that Win will continue to grow in the message and be a strong leader in this final work of Jesus Christ.

NewLifeRadio 103.25 FM Chiang Mai / Mae Taeng
On Sabbath afternoon Polay, a radio volunteer was reading and recording the Great Controversy in Thai at the radio station when the phone rang.  It was a minister from a Sunday church named Sook Jai.  Polay told Sook Jai that He did not know much about the radio and gave the phone to Aor, a radio worker.  The Sook Jai then explained in a serious voice that he had been listening to the programming.  By the tone of his voice Aor was ready for a bad confrontation.  But then Sook Jai said he told his members to listen.  In fact, he said he doesn’t preach any more but is opening the radio to NewLifeRadio for his small congregation of eight.  He said “Praise the Lord!”  He is glad for the Bible study from the radio.  He is also interested in Revelation study guides for his members.  Please pray for this small flock of Christ and the many others yet to be called in to the true fold.

Interesting note:  Sook Jai means Happy Heart - We pray that Sook Jai and the other listeners will have happy hearts as they learn more about Jesus Christ and take their stand with Him.

Karens Face Starvation
Dear friends and family,
I feel impressed to share this burden with you and I hope that you will prayerfully consider it.  Pastor Phamor (the retired pastor living near Chiang Mai, Thailand, who is nearly single-handedly supporting the work (through sponsors) among the Karen in the Northwest Thai/Burma border and inside Burma in the war zone) has shared with me a very pressing need.  This is the time of year that the teachers' salaries are paid but he has no more money left in any of the accounts with which to pay them.  Add to that the complication that a few weeks ago the Burmese army came through and destroyed all their rice crops and burned down their rice barns so they have no food for the year.  They can still buy rice from other villages or pack it in from Thailand but, alas, there is no money!  The funds that were donated to Pastor Phamor at FaithCamp for the Studio have been borrowed already for this purpose but we still owe him $90,000 on the studio that he could have used for this emergency.

Here is part of Pastor Phamor's latest emails to me: (Pastor Nelson is the director of the work inside Burma, behind enemy lines, in the last stronghold of the Karen resistance):

 Hi Jon,
   I am standing on a hot shoes now. Pr. Nelson (director of the work in the last Karen stronghold in Burma) call me yesterday and asking for money it is altogather Baht, 606,000. (about $18,500 US)  I told him I have no money and he said that now is the time we need to pay the teachers.  If we cant pay them now they won't get food for next year. Normally when come to this situation I borrow from any fund I have but now I have no where to borrow because all I have is in the building (TV Studio). It worries me. Last week I have to give out Baht 400,000 to Pastor Thain Aye so I am now in a hot shoes. Any way try to send as much as you have each time and it will pay of the bill.

So as you can see it is a desperate situation for those in the war-torn area of Burma.  These calls for our assistance is actually a blessing and is given by God in mercy to us. In mercy to us?  Yes!  In mercy to us so that we can enter into the joy of our Lord.

---- Check this out:
Adam and Eve were rich indeed. They possessed Eden. Adam was lord in his beautiful domain. None can question the fact that he was rich. But God knew that Adam could not be happy unless he had employment. Therefore He gave him something to do; he was to dress the garden.  {FE 38.2}

And this for us today:
 That man might not lose the blessed results of benevolence, our Redeemer formed the plan of enlisting him as His coworker. God could have reached His object in saving sinners without the aid of man; but He knew that man could not be happy without acting a part in the great work. By a chain of circumstances which would call forth his charities, He bestows upon man the best means of cultivating benevolence, and keeps him habitually giving to help the poor and to advance His cause. By its necessities a ruined world is drawing forth from us talents of means and of influence, to present to men and women the truth, of which they are in perishing need. And as we heed these calls, by labor and by acts of benevolence, we are assimilated to the image of Him who for our sakes became poor. In bestowing, we bless others, and thus accumulate true riches.  {CS 13.5}
The light of the gospel shining from the cross of Christ rebukes selfishness, and encourages liberality and benevolence. It should not be a lamented fact that there are increasing calls to give. God in His providence is calling His people out from their limited sphere of action, to enter upon greater enterprises. Unlimited effort is demanded at this time when moral darkness is covering the world. Many of God's people are in danger of being ensnared by worldliness and covetousness. They should understand that it is His mercy that multiplies the demands for their means. Objects that call benevolence into action must be placed before them, or they cannot pattern after the character of the great Exemplar.  {CS 14.3}

Oh, dear friends, I struggle with selfishness desperately!  I am so sorry, but I knew about this need a couple weeks ago but have not said anything because I didn't want anything to distract the funding of our other projects that are in such desperate need.  Please forgive me.  God is still working on my character as well, teaching me the largeness of His benevolence (love).  Shall we not join Him in His plan to prepare our characters for heavenly society and do something to help in this time of need?  If so, we must act quickly.  Please share this with anyone you may think would be interested. All of your gift for this project will go to this project. (and please don't forget the Bible workers in India).  You can donate by calling, mailing a check, online on JFA's website, or by clicking the button below:
