Jesus for Asia

Delivered from a Life of Hell.

My name is Vasantha. I live in Virar, located in the western part of Mumbai (Bombay) on the shore of the Arabian seai. All my life I’ve been an idol worshipper. Our house was filled with pictures of Hindu gods and goddesses. I and my family members offered poojas (prayers and offerings of food and incense) on a regular basis. We had many gods and we appealed to each god for our various needs. At the same time, I was possessed by a demonic spirit of one of these gods. This demonic spirit tormented me so much by putting me through a lot painful experiences. I wanted to be freed from this life of hell, but I did not know the way neither did anyon e come to my rescue.

 

While I was searching for a savior, God the Almighty sent an old couple to my door. They introduced themselves as Christians - Pastor Gnanamuthu and Mrs. Saraj. He serves in the Seventh-Day Adventist church, Metro Mumbai region. I was reluctant to entertain him at first, but he visited me several times with his good wife and prayed for me. I thought to myself ”why does this old couple keep visiting me, they probably wants something from me.” But No! No!! I was mistaken. Now I look back and realize that they are the ones that God sent to help me out of my miserable life. They are the ones sent to wipe away my agonizing burdens. I was impressed very much by the concern that he showed towards my well being. I started to cooperate with him. As he was praying, the power of God began taking control of my every impulse and thoughts of my body and mind. It was like a dawn of new life, when the sun light comes up and the darkness disappears. 

Now I am free from the control of that deadly demonic spirit. The good Lord and Savior Jesus Christ became the Lord of my life. It is a great miracle for me and my family members. I removed all the idols and the photos of the gods and goddesses from my home and threw them in the Arabian Sea.

Pastor Gnanamuthu, the retired pastor now working as a JFA Bible worker, and his wife teach me lots of wonderful truths from the holy bible that I never heard before. They are great and marvelous to me. I eagerly wait for his next visit. He is gifted in giving bible studies. I am getting ready for my baptism. I and my family will serve the Lord who created the heavens and earth. Praise the Lord!

Delivered from Demons and Alcohol

I am Mrs. Punitha Gracey.  I live in the biggest slum in Mumbai called Dharavi. (Mumbai has one of the largest slum areas in the world, second only to Mexico City). I was raised in a Hindu family and married to a man whose family practices witchcraft. My husband fell sick in the year 1992. He was tormented by the evil spirit and was addicted to alcohol. His health got worse and we started to worry about him because he is the only bread winner in our home.

People directed us to various religious centers and counseled us. We followed them faithfully but found no cure. Our search for healing did not come to an end. Meanwhile, a demonic spirit began troubling our entire family.

One day God sent Pastor D. Jeyraj and Mrs.Annapushpam, Jesus for Asia volunteers, to our home. They guided us and stood beside us during the dark times our journey. As a result satan became more furious. In the year 2007 an evil spirit appeared to my husband and stated that it will take away his life. My husband gathered all his courage and took a bible and showed it to that evil spirit and said, “If you want to take away my life, first take this book.” That evil spirit fled away immediately while making saying, “you are holding Agni‚ (Fire) and I cannot get near you!”    

My husband got rid of the evil spirit but he could overcome his addiction to alcohol. As a result the condition of our family went from bad to worse and we were all in tears. We had to face a lot of challenges. Other members in the family began to suffer from body sores. Our whole family became like Job and our faith was shaken up, but we determined to place our selves in the hands the great physician. Our great God bent down towards us and sympathized with us and rescued us from the hands of Satan. Our entire family was joined in the fellowship of Jesus and the Seventh-Day Adventist church through baptism. We are happy now and enjoying good health.

Our family is grateful to God for His goodness and mercy, and to the JFA Bible worker who visited our door.

Delivered into Joy and Peace.

My name is Deepak Ashok Nade. I am the eldest brother in our family. I was raised a Hindu. I took part in all the Hindu festivals, believing it is the only true religion that could offer me eternal life and prosperity. I was not interested in getting to know who Jesus Christ was. I was ignorant about Christianity.

One Seventh-Day Adventist Pastor used to pass in front of my house every day and greeted me by saying “Praise the Lord.” It was so strange to me. I thought that he was teasing me! But I did not pay much attention. As the days rolled on, I started to respond to him without realizing it. I was very impressed by his friendly manners and became curious to get to know about him.

One day I met him and enquired about his job and so on. He mentioned to me that he is a Bible worker and belongs to the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. It was a surprise for me when he said that his church worship services are conducted on every Saturdays. I sought for a clarification. While the whole world is worshipping on Sunday, why this people worship on Saturdays? I commented about them that these people are crazy. They are confusing the public.

Pastor was kind enough to study with me the bible. He answered to all my questions till I was satisfied. I decided to embrace this wonderful truth by baptism. It was a grand day  in my life. I experienced a great peace in my life. Now I am busy in inviting my family members and friends to this marvelous truth. Let His name be always glorified.

Delivered from Demon Possession

When evening had come they brought to him many who were demon possessed.

And he cast out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick.

Matthew 8:16.

I am Mitur Solshe. I am staying at Kalwa Phule Nagar. I have three sons. By faith we were Hindus. We were worshipping a god called “Mager Baba.” Every time some one performed Poojas (worship to idols) We were possessed by demonic spirits and we would dance in front of these idols. People thought that we were blessed with godly spirit and were respected in society.

One day, a Pastor Ashok Kamble organized an evangelistic meeting at a nearby meeting place. We went there as spectators. When the praising was going on during the meeting, the evil spirits which were on us become restless and forced us to run away from there. We lost control and started to scream and roll on the ground. We caused a lot of disturbance in the meeting. It was so embarrassing!

After we gained consciousness, we realized that it was not a divine spirit but a demonic  one and we began to hate that sort of life. We wanted to get rid of this devil from us. We sought the help of the pastors who were coordinating these meetings. They prayed united with one voice and after a long struggle, the demonic spirit left from us. We were baptized 0n Dec. 12, 2009. Now we want to live for Lord Jesus Christ and bring people to Him.

Delivered from Despair

Hello! Greetings to you all in the name of our good Lord Jesus Christ. I praise God because He made me to live to write this redemptive story about myself.

I am Usha. I am a middle aged woman. I was raised by parents who are Hindus. I have four children and I married to a man who was a drunkard and irresponsible. I live at Worli situated near the seashore of the Arabian Sea.

My family lost its glory and hope of shining and embraced only shame and suffering because of my husband who was a heavy drunker. I go around every day to collect some waste scraping materials and sell them in a shop and generate some meager income out of it to run my family. Every day as soon as I return home, my husband demands money for drinking. I have to give him daily his portion of 30 Rupees in the morning and 30 Rupees in the evening for his drink. If I did not give it to him, he would make my life hell. He used to beat me and abuse me in front of my neighbors and friends. He tortured me. I hated this kind of life and I wanted to end my life with my children or escape some where from this man. I had no peace and no health. M y children were starving for daily food and had no proper clothes to wear and I could not get them and education. I have no words to speak out about my agonies that I have gone through. 

Meanwhile, the health of my husband got worse. I spent a lot of money on his treatment. Nevertheless, he did not survive. His death made me a total blank of my future. (Note - a widow in Hindu society can never remarry or have a job. She is treated as an outcast and a begger for the rest of her life.) My life became more miserable. I was looking for peace and consolation.

One day I heard some singing in my neighbor’s house. I ignored it. The next week at the same time while I was at my house, I heard the same kind of singing. This was melodious and peaceful to listen to, unlike the frenetic and restless singing I had grown up with. I wanted to go there and see who was singing and why they were singing. But I could not get the courage to venture over. I was so timid. I struggled with for a bit and ignored the urge to go and inquire on that day. Now it is the third week. Same kind of worship-filled songs. This time I could not resist myself. I just walked over there and sat among them.

The Bible worker's name is David Tayade and his wife is Sutar. They are JFA Volunteers who come from the Mumbai Central Church to conduct worship for these people. As I was sitting there and listening to the singing and his powerful presentation from the Holy Bible, I felt a strange power come in me and strengthen me to raise me up from all my mental agonies and physical sufferings. I was so much convinced that here is the way to get rid of my troubles and I must attend these meetings. I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as my redeemer and life giver and was baptized into the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Now the Sun of Righteousness is shining in my family. Therefore, I and my children Lack nothing. We have everything because Lord Jes us Christ is with us always.
