Date: September 9th 2011

Blessings,

It has been a very busy month for all of us and summer is finally winding down and we are praising His name for His continued watch on each of us, amen?

News flash about the school: The registration for the school has went from 35 to 66. Many of these are waiting to begin because 3 of the 10 chieftains who have already approved this project have begun to give resistance.

They have ask us to take it to the coastal mayor who has jurisdiction over this area to make it final. This may seem to be a negative bump in the road but as we look at how the Lord has led and the need that is present, we feel it is just a distraction and another way for the Lord to show His might. There will be a meeting on the 15th (14th in the states), and we would like to ask each one of you to pray if you would be willing to do that. Thank you.

We just finished an interview with am applicant that we have hired as a teachers assistant, her name is Lovely Mae. She is a high school graduate and has a burden for missions. Please Pray for Lovely Mae as she begins her missionary endeavor for the school you have begun.

It has been suggested by the teacher and our appointed supervisors that many, if not most of these students are only eating very little and have ask us if it were possible to feed them a hot lunch once a day. It will cost an additional $58.00 per month. This is for 66 students. Can we help them?

Now we would like to share a few reports from the bible workers in the field, we hope you are blessed:

 A Report from Dukdukaan
Greetings from the bretheren and lay workers  of  Dukdukaan!

Our special thanks and gratitude to God, Mr. & Mrs. Michael Cordes  and all the GOBEDO Missions SUPPORTERS.

By God’s help our work here at Dukdukaan continued to go forward to the nearby mountains.  The reminders  about the lectures every devotional still rings to our ear; not to go without morning devotional.  That made us equipped before we go to visit homes for friendship and bible study.

We are now concentrating in the area of Malunsagay and Minabtan  but of course we still have to go back to our territory, Dukdukaan.  The chairmen of the said places are happy because we  are helping those people  who are victims of the rabies of insects and animals.  They are relieved from suffering the causes of the rabies.  We also get their blood pressure so we could advise them what to do if ever their pressure rises.  As a result,  five homes comprising  fifteen individuals are now receiving bible studies at Minabtan , and in Malunsagay, five homes with twenty individuals.  However, the bible studies are not  being done every day because they go to a far mountain to do  crop far ming, so we decided to have it every Sunday only.

With regards to their children, ranging from 1-10 years old, we could say that they are malnourished and  thin.  So we decided to cook porridge.  This we do, despite of our meager budget for food. Oftentimes we shared our food with them and before the month ends we are already eating  “ lutya”, a root crop in the mountain.

The church at Dukdukaan has a very pitiful sight, with rotten anahaw leaves and the worshippers are always drenched with rain every time the weather is not good.  They are thankful for the supporters of the GOBEDO MISSIONS for the budget intended but until now the negotiations between the datu and the city counsilor who is a higaonon is still controversial.  We are now asking one of  the  laymen before who is very influential in the name of Junior Pachico, the body guard of the city mayor, to ask the mayor for negotiations with kagawad Manroquita who is very anti to the  Adventists.  We are soliciting your ardent prayers regarding this matter so that sooner we can have a permanent church without any interference from  cold and rain.

Our bretheren here at menalwang are actively participating in church services.  5 kids can preach and  five also can pray.  Every Sabbath dawn we do the serenading to our bretheren to encourage them to be in church.

We are very thankful to the GOBEDO MISSIONS  supporters  and to Mr. and MRS. Cordes for responding to God’s call in order to save lives from satan’s snares , as well as their avid concern and support to our work here in Gingoog preferably at Dukdukaan.  God bless you  and be with you as we work together for the Lord.

A Report from Bagasbas:

GOBEDO Missions, South Philippines

We are thankful to the lord for having us called to work for Him in this GOBEDO MISSIONS.  Our heartfelt greetings to all the supporters of the GOBEDO MISSIONS and also to Sir Mike and Ma’am Michelle.

We went to visit Datu Yokmo and he was very happy to see bro. Bonsato, the new hired layman who was with us.  Datu Yokmo embraced him for they have not met for a long time already.  We were then told to visit all the houses again at Bagasbas but not the people inside his camp.  We were being accommodated kindly.  Two new families accepted bible studies comprising 8 members in all.

With regards to the bretheren here, only a few are left.  Some went to work in the city, some transferred to other places for greener pasture, while some left also became weak in faith that oftentimes we need to visit them and serenade every Sabbath dawn.

The bretheren here wanted to have the church transferred due to the inconvenience of the path leading to church.  But the problem is, datu Yokmo will not allow the church to be transferred.  Until now we are praying that somehow the Holy Spirit will enlighten his mind to allow us to buy a lot for a permanent church.

Thank you very much for your untiring support.

A  Report from Fatima / Mahogany

Greetings!

First and foremost we thank the Lord for His love to us and also the supporters of the GOBEDO Missions.

In the first week of this month we assisted the layworkers at Minalwang in finish building the church.  As of now, the bretheren are happy and thankful for they have already a church of their own and be sheltered from the sun and the rain.

During the  week we went back to Bagasbas and continued the bible study that we had started.  We then entered the citio of Mahogany.  While on the way, we were able to keep company with a woman and her 2 grandchildren.  We initiated the conversation and when I introduced myself ( Jun Busig ) , she then told me that before she had  classmates  in the name of Estelita Lumba and Roque Busig.  Fortunately, they were my mother and uncle.  That started our nice conversation until such time that we started introducing Jesus who loves them and died for them.  They were attracted to know who Jesus is and accepted bible study.  Recently, we have 2 new families receiving bible studies

We continued our home visitations and found out that people in this place are still innocent about the word of God. We often encounter people without food on their tables because of hardships.  We feel how deeply the Lord is pained to see them suffer for want of food. Lastly, we can’t forget to say THANK YOU to all the supporters of the GOBEDO Missions.  God bless you

A  Report from  Hindangon

Greetings from the lay workers of Hindangon.

Thanks be to God for the numberless  blessings we receive from Him, from the supporters of the GOBEDO Missions and to you sir Mike and mdm. Michelle.

In the early portion of the morning, Aug. 1,2011, after having our devotional, we then went to the citio of Samay, Hindangon.  We distributed can goods and this made them very happy and thankful.  We were able to visit 3 families and 8 individual listened to God’s word as we presented the name of Jesus.  Last aug. 2,2011 we went to visit the people in the East side and we got 2 new bible students.  One of the two is very interested to have his baptism when he knew that the true Sabbath is the seventh day of the week, we will work towards this goal.  We then invited him for a fellowship meeting and he gladly went with us.  He is now going to church.  On that day 2 individuals listened to the word of God and two also were being visited.

Last aug. 10, I was requested  to report to Menalwang for a carpentry job.  Ptr. Cabahit was also with us and by God’s help we were able to have the church erected.  Aug. 15, we gave bible study to 8 new individuals .  They continued studying the bible and 2 houses were visited.  Aug 16, 4 persons listened to the bible study and we were able to visit 3 families.  At this very day our rice for food was already consumed so we just ate “ bululan’ , a kind of table banana that is sour when cooked ripe and in the evening, lutya.  We had stomach trouble that night, but God was so good to us….at least we were not brought to the hospital.

Aug. 17, We went visiting homes again giving bible studies, offering prayers, and there were 6 homes where we had offered a prayer, 14 individuals accepted bible studies.  Aug. 18,  we were in citio Bongol and were able to visit 6 persons. We made friends with them and offered some prayers.   Six of them  listened to the bible study and 2 accepted to have regular bible study.  We don’t have food to eat anymore at that time but our work was not hindered.  To solve the problem, we went to some who have the same faith with us and tried to borrow from them rice so we could eat.  Praise the Lord He still provide us through this people thoug h it’s only a bulanghoy but God made us full,  never tiring in His work.

The following day, we went to work again.  Although there were those who were antagonistic to our work, we still got 10 new bible students and were able to visit another 2 houses.

To sum up, 12 persons were being prayed for and 32 persons are now having a regular bible study in this area.

We are hoping that somehow, a church will be built in this place so that this will be one of the beacon lights in the mountains of Gingoog city.

A Report from Menalwang

Our heartfelt greetings to all the supporters of the GOBEDO Mission south Phils.

These are your laymen:  Benigno lilay and Jun Quisido from menalwang, Gingoog.  We want to share with you the result of your ardent prayers and support in this area.

It was Sabbath morning after our worship, when we were informed by one of the bretheren that one of the men in the barangay died.  We then went with the group;  Thirty  bretheren went to visit and render service to the bereaved.  We were saddened to see the hardships that this family suffered.  They invited us to have lunch with them with only a very young lutya, a root crop in the mountain.  Our hearts melted upon seeing the situation.  The following day some men went to the mountain to cut a tree and got the bark of the tree as the coffin.  The dead was being wrapped by the bark and then buried under the ground.  We sang songs and give a short talk about the situation of the dead.  The family was comforted and they really praised God for sending us in their pl ace.

Last Aug. 2, 2011  a member of the church who as very ill for many years, died.  He has 9 children and his wife, nine months pregnant.  We give support to the family because the kids are all malnourished.  We give rice and a little milk that we could only afford.  The neighbors and relatives extended their help too.  Last aug. 15, the wife and her three kids went to the non-formal GOBEDO Mission School.  At least her broken heart was alleviated by learning how to read and write, above all knowing more who Jesus is.

Despite the hardships of life here at Menalwang we still could feel how deeply God cares for us.  We found complete happiness in sharing the little means that God has given us.  We also taught the bretheren how to do farming so they could earn a living out of it.  There are 11 individuals who are now ready for baptism after three months of bible study.  Those who were baptized last may, and were not able to receive a bible 40 of them, are still waiting that somehow they would be given a bible of their own.

We had also our home visitation and we offered them prayers.  Those who were sick, we massaged, and those bitten by dogs and insects, we have the  “tandok”  to remove the rabies.  We also did some serenading to the new converts.

Lastly, to the GOBEDO Mission supporters and to sir mike and ma’am Michelle, a big thank you !  Praise the Lord for all these things !

A Report from langguyod, Libertad

Greetings to all GOBEDO Mission Suppoters who in one way or another have helped us continue the work in the mountains of Gingoog specifically at Langguyod, Libertad.

Praise God for the many blessings he has showered to all of us thus making His work prosper until this time.

We visit homes every day.  There are those who are sick, discouraged, and lonelybecause of the hardships in life but when we introduce to them  Jesus they found relief and comfort.  We offer prayers and supplications to the Lord and they are happy to have been prayed for.  One time we met a man who was very, very antagonistic.  He questioned us nonsense questions and later got angry to us because our answers did not suit to his own way of thinking.  He railed on us and challenge for a fight.  We prayed silently and a nuance of silence changed the atmosphere.  We thanked God for keeping us away from trouble.

We also serenade at dawn and at twilight.  We also taught them how to plant vegetables through the seedlings that were given to us before.

Thank you very much for all the support !  God bless you !

A Report from Quezon, Balingasag

A  Nice Day to all the supporters of the GOBEDO Missions!  We praise God for using you in supporting this great work  in the mountains specifically in the area of Quezon, Balingasag.

We are in a critical area where the NPA’s and the Phil. Military often have encounters.  But despite of the fears that surround this place God has given us courage to push through the work that we have started.  We encounter people who speaks to us roughly, insults that are bitter and mockings too, But these things give us more challenges in working for the Lord.

We also bring our bible patients to the hospital.  We solicit help for them and of course we also give them a small amount of our own.  We bring them to the hospitalwithout anything but the Lord fulfills His promise to supply our needs and He did that to us.  We offer prayers to the sick, give advice to the problematic, massage,  and give tandoks too.  We sing songs to them by serenading at dawn.

We have 13 new bible students and visited 10 homes.  Others did not continue studying the bible because they are too busy conducting their children to school.  We prayed for god’s help that somehow these kinds of people will come to know Jesus sooner.

We thank the Lord for making us co-workers with Him together with the GOBEDO Mission Supporters.  Praise God !  We give the glory to Him.  God bless you!

Well.....There you have it. The latest reports from the front line missions that you have been faithful to support in prayer and finances. We can't even begin to thank you for all you have done. The needs are so great here and each month drives us to our knees as we struggle to make ends meet in the field. It does cost much to do ministry for the Lord but when we look at it from an investment point of view, we can see without a doubt that this could be one of the best investments that any of us could or will ever make.

Next time, we will be sharing with you what we are hoping to do to bring a better awareness of what is happening here and prayerfully, more support to this progressive and exciting ministry where Christ has ask us to "GoBeDo!"
