THE NEED FOR A NEW OFFICE

God is on the move, and He is calling Jesus for Asia to increase its mission reach, both in the number of projects and new territories. To follow that call, we need to grow our team here at our US headquarters. However, we could not do that in our old office space, which we had completely outgrown. We had up to nine people working in a 400-square-foot windowless room in the basement of a house and several working upstairs in the living room.

That means there was no privacy for conversation or phone calls, and people easily interrupted each others’ work. The Jesus for Asia Now episodes for 3ABN have been filmed in the garage - which meant that when we shot a show, no one could use the restroom or walk upstairs because it created noise. Parking was also a problem because we had nowhere to expand.

We spent over three years looking for alternatives and found nothing suitable.

Starting to see God’s plan

In the summer of 2021, God clearly led us to a plot of land in downtown Collegedale that is tucked in a nice peaceful corner next to the Korean Adventist Church and across the street from Morning Pointe, an assisted care facility, and Garden Plaza, a retirement community.

The property was one and a half acres of bare land with a “build to suit” option. This was very attractive because it meant we wouldn’t have to take much time from the ministry to get permits, choose contractors, etc. The developer is well known in the area, and we received encouragement from other contractor friends saying that we were “in good hands.”

We spent countless hours in prayer about this, and we continue to see God’s definite leading in building our office on this land. One example is that, even though it’s in a very desirable location, the land remained unsold for over 17 years. The developer said that it seems “God has preserved it for such a time as this.”

And yet we went forward very slowly - and yes, very reluctantly - step by step over the last year. This is a huge commitment of time and resources, and we did not want anything to distract from the work in Asia. But God has prodded us through scriptures and providences to keep going forward. He has definitely been growing our faith.

I want to state here that we do not want donations that would normally go to Asia to be redirected for this opportunity. The work in the field has to continue to go forward. In fact, we prayed for this building to be constructed only if it would enlarge the work in Asia and more souls would be saved into the Kingdom!

Building the new office

The builders started to work on the land on November 3, and progress proceeded rapidly. We made a down payment in December, signed for the loan, and paid the property off on January 31, when the building was already 75% complete. We received the Certificate of Occupancy on April 18 and moved in on May 4. 

Since then, the Lord has been providing for the bills and payments to be made on time. From the beginning, we have asked God to make this building a testimony to those who see it, and He has answered those prayers beyond our imagination.
