A typical "Bible Study" often turns into an evangelistic meeting!
Last September Jon Wood visited Iloilo on the island of Panay, Philippines, just after hurricane Frank had ravaged the area, demolishing homes and killing almost 5,000 people. The members of the local church provided relief to the survivors in a way that sparked the interest of 2,800 families who then wanted Bible studies! Training of Lay Bible Workers has begun to meet the demand! Because of the difficulty in finding enough trained Bible workers, they started their own lay Bible training seminar which is so popular that they had to limit the size to 40 people per session. We are seeing excellent fruits from this amazing effort. whenever someone goes out to give a Bible study, a bunch of people gather around and it ends up being a seminar!
Jon’s original purpose for his visit was to follow up a David Gates visit and start a video studio with a very dedicated lay family in Iloilo. He began by conducting a 5-day training course on all aspects of video production and donating some equipment, including editing computers and video cameras. He then hired three full time media workers (we hear they now want to share their salaries with three more!).
The team is now broadcasting on Satelite TV throughout the Philippines and China! (We are planning to provide Chinese programming from the new studio in Thailand – see p. 10).
It costs $120 a month to sponsor a full time Bible or Media worker, or $60 a month for a part-time worker.
This place is on fire for the Lord! And the young people are so involved – They run the prayer meetings and vespers. We are excited to be involved with such people who are giving their all for the Lord’s work.

This class did nearly 50 hours of Video Training in 1 week!
