Japan is one of the world’s least-reached countries, with only a few thousand active Adventists among a population of more than 123 million people. Many live with a deep sense of isolation, loneliness, and quiet despair—often feeling disconnected and without meaning.

Culturally, people tend to keep to themselves, and genuine community can be difficult to find. This emotional distance contributes to a heartbreaking reality: Japan has one of the highest suicide rates in the developed world, with an estimated 60 lives lost each day, often through tragic means such as stepping in front of trains.

Bible workers have a unique opportunity to bring the hope, love, and healing of Christ into this darkness—offering connection, purpose, and the promise that every life is deeply valued.
