The Living God Brings Freedom

Raaj lit a small clay lamp and placed it in front of a shrine honoring a deceased elder or saint of her family's religion. This act of worship was not only encouraged in her village; it was a necessity. If anyone failed to light their lamp for the elder or attend the weekly worship services at his temple, spirits would trouble him or her until that person resumed. But something troubled Raaj. Although the spirits were quick to trouble those who did not worship, no one in the village received the blessings they asked for.

"I was a worshiper of a dead god,"  Raaj shared. "A god who does not live from the days of my childhood. It was not in my knowledge that the real God exists in this world."

One day, she learned about Varinder, a JFA Bible Worker who leads a group of people who worship a living and true God. This God, they said, was the God who made them, listens to them when they talk, and blesses them.

She decided to visit the group for their Sabbath prayer meeting and listened to Varinder share God's word. What she heard changed her life. She knew that what they said about this living God must be true. "From that day," she said, "I have started following the true and living God who is Jesus Christ and I am saved by the blood of Jesus Christ."

As further confirmation of her choice, Raaj has found that through the power of Christ, she is not troubled by the evil spirits despite no longer lighting her lamp for the elder or worshiping the god of her previous religion.

"I thank the Lord Jesus Christ and Varinder for new blessings in my life," she shared.

Praise be to God for placing Varinder in a place where he can reach out to those in the bondage of Satan and introduce them to the living God. Please keep Varinder and his fellow workers in your prayers. Please also pray for Raaj and her village that many more will come to know and accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
